3 Ways to make the other person feel important
YES, you are important!
Did that introduction trigger you? Maybe you got the same feeling that people get when they receive a like on their social media post or when a manager compliments their work in a team meeting.
A feeling of IMPORTANCE.
All these things trigger something emotional in us and make us feel great.
Feels good, right?
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain, by making others feel important in a sincere way. Use these 3 tips to boost the people around you:
Say thank you – in a different way
A quick recognition of someone’s help or efforts can go a long way in showing appreciation. Sometimes some new words can trigger that other person and make it count even more:
- I appreciate it
- Thanks for your hard work on this
- Grateful that you helped me out
- That’s very kind of you
- Much appreciated
- Thanks for having my back
- Your support means a lot
- You are the best
Use the thank you note
Stick a post-it on somebody’s laptop if you’re in the office, or write an intentional card with a short note.
If you’re working remotely, a simple dedicated email with a GIF, picture, some text with expression of your gratitude, will go a long way.
Random act of kindness
Being kind can make a big difference in our lives and the lives of others. When we do small acts of kindness, we not only make the world a better place, but we also feel happier in our own daily lives. A couple of simple things you can do to acknowledge others:
- Get them a coffee
- Bring and share a sweet treat
- Give a high-five (you would be surprised how amazingly well this works for adults)
- Help them with their workload
Now go spread that positivity around the office!
